Ralph Bunche was a United Nations mediator and Nobel Peace Prize recipient.
The aim of the award program is to:
- Recognize the accomplishments of Black students
- Encourage those students who improve the quality of life on our campus and in the community
- Acquaint the university community with the achievements and contributions of Black students

Undergraduate – Academic Achievement
Award Criteria
This award is given for academic achievement to freshmen who have completed at least 14 graded units in the semester and have a cumulative GPA of 3.6 or higher. This award is also given to undergraduates who have completed at least 14 graded units in the semester and have a semester GPA of 3.6 or higher for at least 3 consecutive semesters.
Nomination Process
Nominations ARE NOT submitted for this award. The award is automatically given to students who meet the academic requirements as stated in the award criteria.
